Swedish Rural Economy and Agricultural Societies
The Rural Economy and Agriculturat Societies are independent members organisations dedicated to enhancing an enterprising spirit in rural areas and promoting good rural and urban living environments.
We have a long history of rural development in Sweden. The first Agricultural Societies was established on the island of Gotland in 1791. In the years that followed, local Agricultural Societies was established all over the country. There are 19 local Rural Economy and Agriculturat Societies today, we are represented in every county.

Independence
The Rural Economy and Agriculturat Societies is entirely independent of all commercial, religious and political agreements. nationally we have about 40 facilities for research and demonstration. This number includes farms, fisheries, animal hospitals, chemical stations etc.
Membership
Every countys society has their own members. The members participate and shape the conditions for urban and rural life, and decide just how involved the want to be. We can offer a whole range of activities and perks, study visits, day (of study) based on a central theme and meetings. We have about 55.000 members
